I'm  Professional Engineer who moved to the Black Isle in the early 1980's to help build and subsequently manage the first of the Carbon Fibre Factories that now comprise the SGL complex at Muir of Ord. Now retired, for the last 20 years of my career I worked almost exclusively on the development of wave energy systems.
I'm a past Chair of the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club and of the Black Isle Singers. I joined the Community Council early in 2015 and have now have a watching brief in respect of planning matters.. I will help to keep the pressure on the Highland Council Planning Committee to try to persuade them that there should be no more major developments until the local infrastructure is improved to allow for such development without decreasing the quality of life of those already living in the area. I am not opposed to development in principle but I believe that the main focus of housing and other development should be to improve facilities and opportunities for the local community rather than, as seems to be the case at present, to encourage inward migration.
