15 October 2024DROPPED KERB CONSULTATION

GETTING AROUND IN A WHEELCHAIR, MOBILITY SCOOTER OR WITH A PRAM, PUSHCHAIR OR BABY BUGGY CAN BE TRICKY.

One of our local Ward Councillors, Morven-May MacCallum is investigating whether it's possible to have more "dropped kerbs" to make crossing the road and getting onto pavements easier.

She is keen to here where the priority locations are in Fortrose and Rosemarkie. If you have a view, please email us and we shall pass your suggestions on to her.

15 October 2024MERCAT CROSS FUTURE?

As you will know, what remained of Fortrose's old Mercat Cross was sadly damaged in May this year.  Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council is working with The Highland Council and Historic Environment Scotland to repair and possibly restore the Cross, but this is likely to take some time.

In the meantime, we are keen to hear views on possibly relocating the Cross.

The current site, on the junction of Fortrose High Street and Academy Street leaves it vulnerable to traffic damage.  Alternative locations that have been suggested so far include in Cathedral Square, in the grounds of the Cathedral itself (likely to have been the original location) or in the grounds of the Academy.

We are would like to hear your views.

07 October 2024VOLUNTEERS FOR CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES WANTED!

We know it is only October, but Fortrose and Rosemarkie Community Council members' minds are turning towards Christmas planning....

Each year, we need volunteers to put up our Christmas Tree in Cathedral Square and put lamp-post lights up in both villages.  If you think you could spare some time at the end of November/beginning of December, let us known.  Many hands make the job much easier.

We are also starting to plan our traditional CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT THE CATHEDRAL on Christmas Eve and are looking for volunteers to join the steering group and/or help on the night. Do get in touch if you'd like to get involved in this much-loved event.

11 September 2024URGENT - CEILIDH CANCELLED

It is with regret that we are cancelling this Friday's Ceilidh in Rosemarkie.

Unfortunately, advanced ticket sales were very poor and we could not rely on sales on the door.

Previous ceilidhs have been popular and the feedback has been positive, so we will need to analyse what went wrong this time.

IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAS PURCHASED A TICKET, PLEASE EMAIL US AT fortroseandrosemarkie@gmail.com OR text the FRCC mobile on 07498 431476 for a full refund.

Thanks to all who came to Fortrose and Rosemarkie Union FC Fun Day on Saturday.  The club hosted the event in Fortrose in aid of Mikeysline, the local mental health charity.  A donated Man City shift signed by star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne attracted a lot of admiring looks and was raffled by the Community Council, raising £380 which will be split equally between Mikeysline and Community Council projects.
